Skip the Campsite Lottery

If you’ve ever tried booking a campsite around Exmouth, especially at Cape Range national park in peak season, you already know the drill — sold out months ahead, refreshing the page at midnight, settling for a site that’s doesn’t match your preference.

The Ningaloo Hideaway is a different kind of stay. A fully equipped Avan Aspire 555 caravan, set up on a private 2.5-acre bush property just south of town. No campsite to hunt for. No one pitched up next to you. No generator noise from the next bay.

You book one thing, and everything’s taken care of. We set it up, we service it between guests, and when you arrive, it’s ready. Walk in, unpack, and start your holiday.

Your little slice of private acreage

2.5 acres of native bush and mango trees. No shared amenities, no neighbours in the next bay. Just space and quiet.

Premium caravan, fully equipped

The Avan Aspire 555 — a 2-berth pop-top with full ensuite (shower and cassette toilet), comfy double bed, kitchen with gas cooktop, 174L fridge/freezer, and everything you need to cook and eat.

Solar powered, fully off-grid

240Ah lithium battery bank and solar keep the lights on, the fridge cold, and your devices charged. No generators, no cords — just clean, silent power.

Fresh water on board

285L tank filled before every stay. Enough for sensible showers, cooking, and drinking across your visit.

Outdoor living

Quality camping table and chairs, plus shade from the van’s awning. Evenings under an enormous sky with zero light pollution.

Linen, towels, and kitchen essentials

Sheets, pillows, towels, cookware, crockery, cutlery, chopping boards, coffee plunger, cleaning supplies — all provided. Travel light.

In-person check-in and walkthrough

We meet you at the property, show you around the van and the site, run through the off-grid systems, and make sure you’re comfortable before we leave.

Self check-in available on request

Experienced with off-grid setups? We can arrange self check-in with a detailed guide sent before your arrival, plus a hard copy in the caravan. Just let us know when you book.

Just South of Town, Close to Everything

The Ningaloo Hideaway [H] sits on a quiet bush property just south of the Exmouth town centre — close enough to grab groceries, fuel up, or head out for a meal, but far enough away that the only sounds at night are the bush and the stars.
McLeods Beach is barely a minute down the road, and the western side of the cape — where the reef, the snorkelling, and the whale shark tours happen — is an easy drive from your door.

Good to Know — What Off-Grid Actually Means

The Ningaloo Hideaway is a genuine off-grid experience. That’s part of the appeal — but it’s worth knowing what to expect before you book.

No mains power — solar and battery only

The caravan runs on a 240Ah lithium battery bank charged by solar. It powers the lights, fridge/freezer, fans, water pump, USB charging, and 12V outlets — but it won’t run high-draw appliances. That means no air conditioning, no microwave, no hairdryer and no toaster. If you need aircon to sleep, this isn’t the right stay for you — and that’s okay.

Water is finite
The 230L fresh water tank is filled before your arrival. It’s plenty for sensible use across a 3–5 night stay, but you’ll want to be water-wise — shorter showers, turning the tap off while brushing teeth. Think of it like a boat, not a hotel.
Cassette toilet
The ensuite has a proper flush toilet, but it’s a cassette system. When the cassette is full, you’ll need to empty it at the public dump point, which is about 5 km away. We’ll show you exactly how during your check-in walkthrough — it takes about two minutes and isn’t as confronting as it sounds.
No Wi-Fi
There’s no internet connection on the property. Telstra mobile reception is solid, so you’ll have 5G on your phone — but if you need fast, reliable Wi-Fi for work or streaming, plan accordingly. Most guests find the digital detox is part of the experience.
No rubbish collection
There’s no bin service on the property. We provide bags — you take your rubbish with you when you head into town. Easy to drop the public bins at town beach (4.5 km, 5 min drive).

Stay from $259/night

We wanted somewhere away from the township as we had been camping remotely. This stay was perfect. Peaceful, private, firepit a bonus, the night skies awesome and faint lull of the ocean. Perfect end to our Pilbara experience. Sascha the perfect host, immediately returned messages and dealt with our queries. Wonderful experience - 100% recommend his place! Thanks Sascha

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a caravan park?
No. The Ningaloo Hideaway is a private, self-contained accommodation on a 2.5 acre property licensed for short-stay. There are no shared facilities, no camp kitchen, no mains power or water. The owner lives on-site in their residence, but you have your own little private retreat.
Can I bring children or pets?
This is a couples-only experience — two guests maximum. No children, no pets. We’ve set it up specifically for couples looking for a quiet escape.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. We meet you at the property for a personal walkthrough of the caravan and the site. A self-check-in can be arranged for experienced campers.
Check-out is before 10:00 AM.
Do I need to bring anything?
Linen, towels, and kitchen essentials are all provided. You’ll want to bring your own food and drinks, personal items, insect repellent, and sunscreen. A torch is handy for walking around the property at night.
How does the toilet work?
The caravan has a proper flush toilet with a cassette system. When the cassette needs emptying, you drive it to the public dump point about 5 km away. We walk you through the process at check-in — it’s straightforward and takes a couple of minutes.
Is there phone reception?
Yes. Telstra 5G coverage is solid on the property. Other networks may vary. There’s no Wi-Fi.
What if it's really hot and there's no aircon?
The Exmouth peak tourist season (May–September) has mild, pleasant temperatures — most days in the mid-to-high 20s. Outside of winter, it can get warm. The van has a pop-top roof for ventilation and you’re surrounded by shade from the bush, but there is genuinely no air conditioning. The 2 fans operate on battery power and can be used throughout your stay.

If you’re visiting in the warmer months and need aircon to be comfortable, consider one of Exmouth’s cabin or hotel options instead.

Can I extend my stay?
Subject to availability. Get in touch and we’ll check the calendar.
Is this the same caravan listed as the Luxé Pod?

Yes — it’s the same Avan Aspire 555. When it’s deployed at the Ningaloo Hideaway property, it’s listed as a retreat stay with the site included. When it’s available for caravan hire (you choose the campsite), it’s listed as the Luxé Pod.
